Here comes the sun... And so does Glee! Today the kids from McKinley High are heading down to Abbey Road! For the special tribute two-part episode of The Beatles, the Glee cast covered 14 songs from the iconic band. Oh-My-Glee, the songs are just incredible! Are you also just as excited as I am about season 5? Read on and listen here to the top 5 of Glee's best songs of The Beatles tribute.
From the very first episode of Glee I was already hooked. It was love at first sight. The day after, I put on all the songs of that very first episode and from that moment I became a official Gleek. Still on this day, you can find hundreds of Glee songs on my iPod. Although I've had to admit that my crush for Glee went a little bit down after season 3, my love for Glee is still strong. So when I heard the songs from these tribute episodes, I realized this is why I still love Glee! And although there are always some people complaining about which version is better (the original or from Glee), I just think it's fun way to introduce this generation to the incredible songs of The Beatles.
Here's my top 5 The Beatles tribute songs from Glee:
1. "Let It Be"
We've all been there. Everyone sometimes feels a little bit down. That moment when you feel so hopeless and you are just hoping for better days to come. If you ever feel this way, just Let it Be. Like Rachel (Lea Michele) sings: “When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom: Let it be.”
This is definitely one of The Beatles classic songs and I love how Glee's version turned out with all the vocal harmonies. It's pure magic.
2. "Yesterday"
The first time I've heard Rachel's (Lea Michele) "Yesterday" I got goosebumps. You can feel all her emotions through the song and I can't imagine how hard it must be for Lea to sing this song after Cory's loss. I almost love any solo from Lea, her voice is just incredible and nobody else from Glee could sing this better than she does.
3. "Hey Jude"
Another classic one from The Beatles, so it didn't surprised me that "Hey Jude" is also featured in the Beatles tribute. I love how Blaine (Darren Criss) starts the song off. Again the vocal harmonies are killing it in this song. Great job!
4. "Got to Get You in My Life"
I can't get enough of this duo! Darren Criss's and Chris Colfer's voice sounds so wonderful together! Is this also a sign that Klaine is still on? Let's hope so!
5. "All You Need Is Love"
Who can't resist a uplifting song from time to time? "All You Need Is Love" is probably one of the songs from The Beatles that is probably worldwide well-known by everyone. I love that Glee also covered this song, because the message of the song is still powerful, even after many decades. Yes, all you need is love. Thanks Glee.
What is your favorite The Beatles song from Glee?
